Bali Day #5, July 11th, 2013 Part 1 of 3

The day started out at the hotel with breakfast and calls home to check on Mom and Dad.  I use a Google Voice program called Talkatone.  It's not created by Google but uses the API.  I also use a Private Tunnel VPN prior to making calls.  The calls then originate out of San Jose, CA.

Today we planned up a Vrroomm Vrroomm day.  A day to discover the Southern end of Bali via motorcycles.  What we American's consider scooters, Balinese think of them as automatic motorcycles.  I rode a Yamaha 125 and Chris drove a Yamaha Meo 125.  Both were automatics.

One scooter we borrowed from Sani's famiy and the other we rented from a regular scooter rental near the hotel.  The scooter rental cost (60,000/$6USD) for the day plus another (21,000/$2.10USD) for gas up front.

We left the hotel and drove down by Udayana University (where Sani graduated) and then headed South.  We drive quite a ways in traffic through various villages until we hit Pandawa Beach.

It was absolutely beautfiul.  We grabbed some photos and drinks but then decided to eat lunch. We had to pay to enter as is customary in many places in Bali.  It was (6,000RP/.60USD) to get in.

Here's a picture high up on the winding road looking down on the beach:

This is several hundred feet above the buildings you see right before the water.

We went down to the beach and parked the bikes and walked out.

At the ocean.

Along the boardwalk.

Yeah, it was hot out too!

For lunch, we ate Bakso Ayam (20,000/$2.00).

After lunch, we zoomed back towards Jimbaran but I took a wrong turn and ended up in Ullawatu.  Which is covered in Part 2.
